"Appearance blinds whereas words reveal".........Oscar Wilde
Sometimes life can seem overwhelming - Relationship issues, Bereavement, Health Issues, Uncertainty at work.... these are just a few of the issues that you may face in your life. Asking for help might seem like an admission of weakness and understandably you may feel reluctant to try a talking therapy however, we can all benefit from a little impartial help from time to time, and ConsiliumCounselling can enable you to overcome these difficult times.
My name is Elspeth Shields and I have over 20 years experience of counselling, gaining accreditation from the Scottish Council on Alcohol in 1994. I have been working with a large Glasgow based Employee Assistance Provider for 15 years , providing counselling and emotional support to members of staff from Local Authorities in North and East Ayrshire and the NHS in Ayrshire which has allowed me both a wider spectrum of clients and a diversity of issues, ranging from work to personal related ones. My initial training was Solution Focussed Brief Therapy. This approach is based on solution-building rather than problem-solving, however through ongoing training, and the diversity of clients individual needs, I now adopt a more eclectic approach, selecting from various approaches to tailor counselling to clients individual needs.
I am an accredited member of The National Counselling Society, also a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and adhere to their Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling.
